About Chris Kamine

More than 25 years in accounting

I graduated from Dowling College with a BBA in Accounting in 2003, but I have been working in the accounting field since 2000.

Of those years, I spent 15 in public accounting at various CPA firms, where I reached the position of audit manager. The remainder I spent on the other side of the desk — holding the roles of Corporate Controller and VP of Finance at several private companies on Long Island, managing their accounting departments and handling their financial affairs.

That combination matters to you. I know what auditors and tax authorities look for, and I know what it is actually like to run the finance function of a growing company under real deadlines and real cash constraints.

My firm's history

I have been preparing returns for my own personal clients since 2008 and officially formed the business on March 12, 2014. CGK Accounting Services focuses on individual taxes along with small business formations and dissolutions, accounting, taxes and consultations.

Fire districts and EMS agencies

Beyond my small business and individual work, I have direct experience serving fire districts and EMS agencies. Public-service organizations answer to a different standard than a private business — tighter recordkeeping, closer scrutiny of how funds are accounted for, and reporting that has to hold up to outside review.

My years in public accounting as an audit manager were spent on exactly that kind of work, which is why boards and chiefs tend to find the conversation an efficient one.
